Langevin Condemns Supreme Court Decision Gutting Collective Bargaining Rights for Civil Servants

Jun 27, 2018 Issues: Economy and Jobs

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31:

“I am appalled that the Gorsuch Court is now going after civil servants by overturning four decades of precedent and undermining their rights as employees. Governments are not infringing on free speech by allowing workers to demand better wages. This decision is a blow to working families and to the members of organized labor who are fighting for their right to earn a decent living.”
