Langevin Backs Bipartisan Budget Agreement

Jul 25, 2019 Issues: Budget, Economy and Jobs, Vote

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) issued the following statement after voting in favor of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2019, legislation that repeals impending budget cuts and prevents the United States from defaulting on its debt:

“I was proud to vote for today’s bipartisan budget agreement that will prevent devastating funding cuts over the next two years and protect the full faith and credit of the United States. This measure will prevent a calamitous default, strengthen our national security, and invest in health care, education and other priorities that will improve the lives of everyday Rhode Islanders. It is my hope that this agreement will also help prevent another government shutdown, which would only put the economic wellbeing of Americans at greater risk. I look forward to seeing this legislation signed into law as soon as possible.”
