American Society for Cell Biology Marks 50 Years
WARWICK, RI - Congressmen Jim Langevin (D-RI) and Brian Bilbray (R-CA) yesterday introduced a resolution congratulating the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) for its 50 years of service to the basic biomedical research community.
“I am honored to sponsor this resolution, which recognizes ASCB’s commitment to advancing the science of cell biology,” said Langevin. “Their work advances research and promotes collaboration, all while challenging their member scientists to produce the best outcomes in the biomedical research field. It is this dedication to science that improves medical care and potential health outcomes for all of us. ”
ACSB has approximately 10,000 members in the United States and in 65 other nations around the world.
“Congressman Langevin is a great friend of biological researchers and research in the United States. He understands the important role basic research plays in the development of cures and treatments for disease,” Timothy J. Mitchison, Ph.D., ASCB President and Deputy Chair of the Department of Systems Biology Harvard Medical School.. “We appreciate his recognition of the work ASCB does to promote scientific research, develop future generations of researchers and educate government leaders in the development of science-based policies.
