Hearing from You
Congressman Langevin at his East Greenwich Town Hall

Dear Friends,

I represent more than 500,000 constituents in the Second District, and across the entire state we number more than 1 million proud Rhode Islanders. Each of us has a unique perspective, different experiences and wide ranging beliefs. Regardless of those differences, however, I believe hearing each other’s stories, having an open mind and understanding another person’s point of view is so important. It makes us all better informed, more understanding and more compassionate individuals.

Collectively, this makes our communities stronger and more welcoming.

That’s why I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to attend my Town Hall meetings in East Greenwich and Johnston. I know how busy everyone is between work, family and other obligations, but the crowds of people that came out asked thoughtful questions and made powerful statements on a range of issues. The meetings gave me a lot to think about; I assure you that those concerns were heard.

We may not always agree on every issue, but we should always have the discussion.

Constituent feedback is essential for me to do my job to the best of my ability. Meeting constituents in person is always great, but there are many other ways you can reach out to my office, share your concerns or ask a question about my policy positions. Call my Rhode Island office at (401) 732-9400 or contact me through my website, which has a lot of information about legislation I’m working on, votes I have taken and how my office can help.

You can also interact with me on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. Thanks to those who have reached out already, and as for everyone else – I look forward to speaking with you!

            Sincerely,

           Rep. Langevin's Signature

Back to School
It’s always sad to see summer come to an end, but back to school is an exciting time for students and families. It is an exciting time for me, too, as I recently had the pleasure of visiting six colleges and universities in the district. These schools are economic drivers. They serve as incubators for talent and sources for a new generation of entrepreneurs, and I will continue to support them in their efforts to attract and retain the best and brightest.

On the Health Track
When it comes to growth industries in Rhode Island, health care undoubtedly makes the list, which is why I embarked on a health care listening tour to nine area hospitals and health centers. The visits provided enlightening discussion with care providers and hospital executives about research and treatment initiatives, workforce needs and how federal health care policy is affecting providers at home.
