Langevin to Chair Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee - WARWICK, R.I. – Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today was named the new Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces after a vote of the committee’s Democratic members. Langevin will replace former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, who was recently confirmed as the Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security.

House Approves FY 2010 Defense Budget - WARWICK, R.I. – Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today voted to approve H.R. 2647, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010. The $680.5 billion measure still needs to be approved by the Senate.

Langevin Continues to Support the Troops - WARWICK, RI - Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) yesterday voted for the Conference Report on H.R. 2346, the FY2009 Supplemental Appropriations Act, a $106 billion measure that will provide the military with the resources to continue missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The bill also funds a number of other urgent domestic priorities, including pandemic flu preparedness.

Langevin Returns to Armed Services Committee, Leaves Homeland Security - Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today announced that he will return to the House Armed Services Committee and take a leave of absence from the Homeland Security Committee. His subcommittees have not been assigned yet.

House Passes Defense Spending Measure - Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today voted for H.R. 2638, The Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act of 2009. Included in this larger bill was the Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2009 and the Military Construction-Veteran Affairs Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2009. The bill passed by a vote of 370 to 58.
