Langevin Statement on Iran Nuclear Deal

Apr 2, 2015 Issues: Armed Services

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement in response to the framework that could pave the way for a nuclear deal with Iran:

“I am hopeful that today’s announcement of a framework agreement between the P5+1 and Iran will lead to a verifiable and effective final deal regarding the Iranian nuclear program, with the ultimate goal of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. While critical details are still pending, this framework presents a promising foundation for a long-term solution. In the weeks to come, I look forward to participating in rigorous Congressional oversight and examination of the potential nuclear deal, as well as my many ongoing concerns over Iran’s destabilizing and irresponsible actions in areas such as state sponsorship of terrorism, proliferation, weapons development, and human rights abuses.”
