Langevin Statement on the Appointment of Rhode Island’s First Cybersecurity Officer

Apr 18, 2017 Issues: Cybersecurity, Rhode Island

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI), co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus, issued the following statement on the appointment of Rhode Island’s first Cybersecurity Officer:

“I applaud Governor Raimondo for appointing Rhode Island’s first Cybersecurity Officer to shape the state’s cyber strategy and implement recommendations from the Cybersecurity Commission. Mike Steinmetz’s experience in national security and critical infrastructure protection will help better protect our state and continue to strengthen Rhode Island’s cyber posture. The Governor announced the creation of the position in response the Cybersecurity Commission’s report on cyber protection in the state, which was released in 2015. I commend Commission chair Scott DePasquale and all the Commission members for their work enhancing our preparedness in facing this fast growing threat.”
