Providence Emergency Management Agency Facility Renovations
Amount Requested: $1 million
The Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) is the lead agency responsible for managing the Greater Providence Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) and Providence Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) regions.  This funding for facility renovations will increase the size and capabilities of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) by adding a new dormitory/kitchen area, locker room with shower facility, press/media room and space for surge operations.  These renovations will provide enough space to ensure that there will be a ready 24-hour presence in case of an emergency. This additional space also means that a second complement of staff will be on site should an emergency incident intensify or require the expertise of specific individuals. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds as it will greatly enhance the capabilities of the EOC and will create a regional response capability in the center of the State’s most densely populated area.     Recipient's address: 591 Charles Street, Providence, RI 02904
